Flip Side by Ben

This is for all of those on the flip side of the coin. We know that everyone needs a family to belong to. We understand that, everyone that puts that uniform on isn't all bad. We know that you can't explain why that coward choked out someone's dad. We know you went in trying to do what's right. When you got in you had to know it was a fight. You can't give up when the going gets tough. If it's not hard it's not worth fighting for. We know at the beginning of the day, we all put our pants on one leg at a time. You just gotta see, we just wanna know why is Serve and Protect shooting at us.

We know that just because you sport that shield, doesn't mean you are corrupt. You gotta see that little Tamir Rice was born black. That doesn't mean that he was also born a killer. We know those who ran into that burning building to save that child. We know you didn't care if he or she was black or white. You gotta see it from our point of view, why the hell is Serve and Protect shooting at us.

For those who searched the rubble in New York City, we still forever salute you. For those beating, shooting and raping all those innocent people, Karma got you. Just like all black people are not all gang bangers. Not all cops are empty minded racists. You gotta see, we need to know, why the fuck is Serve and Protect shooting at us.

Blades of grass floating in a sea of dandelions, so few, Beautiful
Your loved ones smile, eyes gazing on you, Beautiful.

Graceful legs gliding across the floor making her way to me.
Flowing white dress, exactly how dreams come true, Beautiful.

Waking, understanding that today, "I" transforms to "we".
Our dreams, no longer belong in our sleep, no memories to, Beautiful.

Dark grey clouds engulf the seemingly unseen blue sky.
The anger of the Gods portrayed by jolts of currents so true, Beautiful

The astonished, embarrassed look on Death's face.
When he realizes his grave mistake, checks his list through, Beautiful.

The look on your loved ones face so innocent and content.
The silk laced casket containing their fate holds true, Beautiful.

You definitely have Ben, waiting for the stars to shine your way.
For all the hard work you have put in, to reward you, Beautiful.

does it matter by: ben

Another beautiful, bright sunny day,
brilliant bright green leaves fill a tree.
There it was in that very same tree,
it was a person swinging in that beautiful tree.
Was it a him, a her, a they or them,
was it black, or Hispanic, or white.
Not that it really matters who was there,
what type of person is swinging in that beautiful tree.
See I shall let you know who is swinging in that beautiful tree,
even though it doesn't really matter, or shouldn't.
Will the person’s color or creed, make them,
make them less them or make them more them.
Shall you shed more or less tears, dependant,
dependant on there color, creed or culture.
I share this with you, not to make you,
make you wonder, sigh, or have an emotional explosion.
Although I do tell you to make you, well,
well to make you think, contrive or to contemplate.
These are not words meant to anger, incite a riot, or,
or to belittle the simpler of minds, see,
see that body swinging in that tree, it is,
it is not black, not Hispanic, not white, see
see these are not words , but hate, hatred towards all, because,
because there will never be a right answer, not
not for any question that has been asked, or raised, except,
except for the fact that all may rest easy, for,
for it is no gay or lesbian, no black or hispanic, no asian or white, for,
for that is me, yes me, just me swinging, in that beautiful tree,
that beautiful tree, on this beautiful day, now you,
you can rest easy, put your already stressed mind at ease, see, "sigh"
"sigh", for today, today, this day was my day to die.

The harmony of chaos gets lost
Like no strings on guitars
Yo pulse can be found in flames of true hearts
Out backdrops have no sounds, but there are
Destinations in our towns, our homes
And definition in our crowns
The trash is just a mask to cover up our past
So what you see is not what you get
But if you care, take a risk

To you it seems like a weird party
When happiness hits you, it’s magic
Two worlds colliding, what could be better
No need for music, just some beautiful color
Soft light piercing the darkness,
Just enough to know it’s there
Not enough to take the beauty of the dark away.

Who says you can’t find happiness in catastrophy
By the time this music is over,
Half the city’s going to think I did this
The song will no longer be remembered
Really what no one will ever know
I did start this. Shouldn’t have been caught cheating

Beauty on the shore by: ben

If you were just a bit smaller
You would have fit perfectly through the door
Now I am forced to enjoy you
Enjoy your beauty right before the storm
Still not sure why I bought you
But there is one thing for certain
Tomorrow I will be out here again
As long as we both can weather the storm.
