I woke up with my comrades, in our normal tight quarters, when the world began to shake. The thundering sound and vigorous shaking, like a snow globe with all of us bouncing and bumping into each other. Our protective white exteriors, hard like the armors of knights and castles, so within it we all felt unstoppable. We are all so naive to the unimaginable truth that laid before us.
Our world literally turned upside down, scattering us into one huge melting pot. Shimmering crystals and large black sheets rained over our heads in numerous waves. Green, brown, and orange dustings, pummeled us the same just before another earthquake, thunderous clash, and extreme temperatures prevailed. We were losing, and to a force far greater than our own. We weren't prepared, just beaten, burned, and deformed. The sound of sizzling flesh from those who didn't survive, was only muffled by the screams from those drowned by the flood that came with the next series of quakes. I alone survived to tell this tale, and still to this day, I don't know what pulled me out, but I'll never forget what I heard. "Oh shit man! That's good." I felt like I was falling for hours and I was certain that this was my end, but to my surprise it wasn't. I landed on my side and rolled until I reached a trench. Burned and a little shaken, I took cover in the trench, laying there extra still, hoping it would all go away. I was awaken by announcer saying "Covid has swept the nation, taken the lives of over 10,000" Covid has taken the lives of all my comrades but I R.I.C.E. #911 will not let them die in vain.
